Visa Rules in Canada

Any foreign national who wishes to enter Canada must obtain a visitor visa or a temporary resident visa. A foreign national does not require a visa if they have proof of permanent residence in the US or hold a passport issued by 54 visa-exempt countries and territories. You must remember that all visa-exempt travelers except US citizens must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization.

Permanent Resident Canada

A Permanent Resident or a PR is a non-Canadian citizen granted permanent resident status. The PR status allows a person to live, work or study in Canada. A person with a PR status is protected under Canada’s laws and citizen rights and is entitled to social benefits. In addition, an individual with a PR status can later apply for Canadian citizenship. A person holding PR status must spend a minimum of 730 days in Canada in the last five years for retaining their status.
